ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Fayetteville-Manlius School District is trying to garner votes for a proposed facilities project.

Through the $10.5 million plan, the district is looking to replace roofing on four different schools and replace the heating system at the Mott Road Elementary School. Some classrooms and bleachers would also be upgraded.

At the same time, the district is facing a tough fiscal year, but officials say the repairs are necessary.

"While it seems that this may not be the time to be spending that money, it's just like your house. You may need to let some other things go to get that roof fixed, because you have to keep up with everything," said Superintendent Dr. Corliss Kaiser.

Officials add that the project would not have any impact on taxpayers.

Residents can vote on March 12, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Fayetteville Elementary School.
