Engineers duct tape colleagues in friendly competition

LIVERPOOL, N.Y. -- Duct tape is used for all types of household projects, but teams of engineers at Lockheed Martin are taking its stickiness to a whole new level.
They stuck it to their colleagues for the "Fly on the Wall" Duct Tape Competition. Thirteen teams of five had only five minutes to tape one of their group members to the wall using two rolls of regular duct tape. Their goal was to be the last one still attached to the wall with only the tape supporting them.
Participants say this exercise has a lot to do with engineering.
"There's a lot of people that have been doing studying and analysis. There's mechanical engineering specifically, definitely that's probably the biggest one, thinking about how, what are the ways the tape will adhere to the wall, what are the best ways to put it on to hold the person up," said Mike Leone, Lockheed Martin Chief Engineer.
The competition was part of Lockheed Martin's National Engineers Week celebration to try to get people interested and involved in engineering.
