PAINTED POST, N.Y. -- It's been almost one month since the Village of Painted Post residents voted to stay intact. Now, the village board is getting back to work on some unresolved matters.

Three projects were on hold because village trustees were researching whether to dissolve or not. They include updating a village emergency plan, code of ethics and the water system upgrade. The village plans on using money from selling water to a gas drilling company to pay for the village's water system.

"That really needs to be replaced for a couple of different reasons, one being, it's a very old pipe and very fragile and the other thing is, it's really not adequate for fire protection of the village, not the way we like to see it. So we hope to have it replaced using the water money," said Village of Painted Post Trustee Rick Thorne.

Thorne says the one thing the board has learned from the dissolution vote, it that it needs to be more open to suggestions.
