American Red Cross receives $10,000 check

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. -- The American Red Cross received a big check from the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel on Wednesday. It follows a record-breaking year for the hotel's popular Ice Bar event.

Personnel chose to give the $10,000 check to the American Red Cross after their involvement with the Hurricane Sandy relief effort. They say the Red Cross's hard work and dedication made it easy to choose them for the second year in a row.

"We all worked very hard to pull off such a successful event and to give back to such a great organization, to an organization that gives 365 days a year, I mean, it is a win, win situation for all involved," said Carolyn Guyer, Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel General Manager.

The Ice Bar event featured more than 15,000 pounds of ice sculptures. In its three day run, around 1,600 people visited.
