NEW YORK STATE -- It's no secret that the pain at the pump is getting worse. Gas prices have risen for 32 consecutive days, and there doesn't seem to be any relief in sight.

Between rising crude oil prices, refinery closures, and production cuts, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded has skyrocketed 40 cents.

According to AAA, that's a 13 percent jump, bringing the national average to $3.73 per gallon.

Here in New York, drivers are seeing prices pushing the $4 mark with the state average at $3.98.

Some states, like Hawaii and California, are already seeing prices well above $4.
