BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- Officials at the Greater Binghamton Airport are hoping to see some changes made to the Airport Corridor in the future.
In her State of the County address, County Executive Debbie Preston announced plans to extend a sewer system to the area to help attract businesses, improve infrastructure and further develop the area.
Officials at the Greater Binghamton Airport say they have open parcels of land which could be developed if a sewer system was available. They say having more businesses on those parcels of land, and all the way down the corridor, would have positive impacts for the Greater Binghamton Airport.
"The more jobs you have in the community, more businesses in the community, the more likely you are going to have additional traffic because those could be customers flying through the airport," said Carl Beardsley, Broome County Aviation Commissioner.
Airport officials say they would also be able to replace the airports septic system which is over 60 years old.
