BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. -- A lengthy court battle to keep a YMCA from being built in the Radisson community has ended in a victory for local residents.
Nineteen Radisson property owners were in on the lawsuit, which claimed the Y was attempting to build on land dedicated to residential and community use.
A Supreme Court judge sided with the neighbors, saying that a last minute attempt by the Empire State Development Corporation to remove residential restrictions on the property was "an outright manipulation" of the system.
The Y has since moved on and is attempting to build at a new location along River Road in Lysander near the Timber Banks neighborhood.
