WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- After a bit of back and forth negotiations, the City of Watertown will once again run the concession stand at Thousand Islands Privateers hockey games.

Concessions became an issue after the State Liquor Authority stepped in, saying that Savory, who sells drinks at the games, was required by law to sell the food as well. The state has since agreed to allow for an exception.

Savory Beverages will now operate under one day permits for the rest of the season.

"I'm not a fan of permitting a lot of individual events for people, unless it is an already licensed establishment. In this case, it is and they've been doing a great job all year," said Watertown Mayor Jeff Graham.

"The city is fully behind the Privateers. We plan on having them here next year we just need to work out the fine details of the alcohol," said Erin Gardner, Parks and Recreation Superintendent.

The other issue was that back in January, the council approved a contract for Savory to pay $300 per game for rights to operate the concession stand. Now that contract will be void.
