UTICA, N.Y. -- Autopsy results paint a gruesome picture of what went down inside a Utica home Wednesday night. Police found the bodies of Jerry McNair and his ex-girlfriend, Petra Gonzalez shot to death in a building on McVean Street.

Police had been looking for McNair after he allegedly shot a different woman in the back of the head and tried to strangle her. That woman miraculously survived.

The autopsy from Wednesday's murder-suicide showed that Petra Gonzalez had been shot a total of five times. The lethal shot was to the head, but she was also shot in the back of the neck, the hand, chest, and a bullet grazed her shoulder.

McNair died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Police have theorized that his actions were the result of a downward spiral of events in his life. In addition to the first shooting, McNair had pending drug charges, and sex abuse charges against a minor, and was involved in multiple domestic incidents.
