UTICA, N.Y.-- A Utica man found near a gun that was near a murder scene in 2011 will spend more than a decade behind bars.

Andre Jackson was sentenced to 15 years Friday for gun charges.

Police were investigating the murder of Reginald Davis in 2011 when they found a gun and spent shell casings.

Prosecutors say police found Jackson less than 100 feet away and tied him to the gun using DNA.

They say Jackson was not legally allowed to own a gun because of previous felonies.
