SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A water main break in downtown Syracuse closed a portion of Water Street near Hanover Square.

Crews were attempting to repair the rupture early Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Water and South Salina streets. Thankfully, the rupture did not cut off water to surrounding buildings.

Water Street heading into Hanover Square has been closed since the break.
