BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- As the Baltimore Ravens play the San Francisco 49’ers this Super Bowl Sunday, Union-Endicott High School grad and former Syracuse University football star, Arthur Jones, has fans rooting for him across New York State.
Jones recently took on his brother, Chandler, in the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots. Only one of them will be playing for a ring in New Orleans.
Jones had a breakout season in his third year with the Ravens, more than doubling his career tackle total, with 47, and tying for the team lead in sacks.
Jones has many from his former hometown backing the Ravens in the big game.
Binghamton University President Harvey Stenger says, "I’ll root for Baltimore, because they’re a little bit more hometown than the West Coast team, so let’s root for Baltimore."
Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo says, "Oh, that’s a tough one. We’ve got that fellow from Union-Endicott playing. I think I’m going to have to stick with that team."
Jones aims to join his younger brother Jon "Bones" Jones, a UFC titlist, as the second member of his family to win a world championship Sunday.
