CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two Chemung County school districts are looking into the possibility of shared bus services.
Horseheads and Elmira Heights school districts are moving forward with a study to see if it's feasible. The study will be done by Transportation Advisory Services and will cost about $9,000.
District officials say this is just another way to explore if each district can save money without hurting the education process.
"That will not take away opportunities for kids, will be a potential savings for us so we can save some of the programs for our students and again, try to exist as a district," said Mary Beth Fiore, Elmira Heights SD Superintendent.
The Elmira Heights School District has been utilizing Horsehead's bus garage for about 20 years.
