Red is the color of the day, and it's for a good cause.

Today marks the 10th annual Go Red Day, an effort by the American Heart Association to raise awareness for heart disease in women.

It's one of many events throughout the year, like the Go Red Luncheon, that are aimed at raising awareness for heart disease in women.

Today, businesses across the region will be participating in the day by wearing red and offering specials to raise money in support of the cause.

More than 420,000 women die every year from cardiovascular disease.
