SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Smiles were had by children and parents alike Thursday, when Harlem Globetrotter "Buckets" Blake visited the Golisano Children's Hospital.

"Buckets" showed off some of his signature moves and talked to the kids about his journey to becoming a Globetrotter.

The visit was part of the Globetrotters' Smile Patrol hospital outreach program designed to brighten the day of special fans unable to attend a game.

"It really lifts the morale of the kids in the hospital. A lot of time they stay in their rooms, they don't always take advantage of what the hospital has to offer. When we can get the kids out of their rooms and see other parts of the hospital it's always wonderful. That way the kids aren't just stuck in their rooms," said Beth Kinsley, Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital specialist.

The Globetrotters will be playing in Ithaca, Utica and Syracuse next week.
