BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Groups from five neighboring counties in the Southern Tier have created a network in hopes of having their voices heard on the issue of hydrofracking. "Save The Southern Tier" includes representatives from Steuben, Tioga, Chenango, and Broome counties.

Thursday, while announcing the new network, the group reiterated its concerns about fracking to Governor Cuomo. They say as knowledge about natural gas extraction has increased across the Southern Tier, support has decreased, and they're willing to do what it takes to keep the gas companies from applying this method in their own backyard.

"Right now our focus is petition and such and we'll shift tactics according to Governor Cuomo, we're prepared to commit civil disobedience, we're going to be having training, and it will be focused on you," said Isaac Silberman-Gorn, Citizen Action Environmental organizer.

Organizers say more than six thousand people have signed a petition saying that they will help the anti-fracking organizations in their endeavor to stop Albany from making the Southern Tier a fracking test ground.
