SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- With many hunting and fishing seasons now over and not enough ice yet for ice fishing in most spots, a local expo is giving outdoors enthusiasts the chance to see the latest and greatest in the field.
The New York Sportsman's Show is going on all weekend at the SRC Arena in Syracuse. In addition to vendors showing off their gear, the show also features seminars and activities for all ages. There's a 3D archery range, a shooting simulator and even a trout fishing pond.
Organizers say Central New York is an ideal spot for the show.
"In 2011, the state Department of Environmental Conservation issued 420,000 licenses to hunt and fish just in our nine county area. So we're known as a hotbed for hunting and fishing," event promoter Tom Tarry said.
The New York Sportsman's Show continues Sunday from 11 a.m. through 6 p.m.
