VESTAL, N.Y. -- One Southern Tier school district is receiving a national award.

Five elementary schools in the Vestal Central School District are being honored. They were given Bronze Healthier U.S. School Challenge Awards by the USDA.

Schools earn the award by demonstrating a commitment to excellence in nutrition and physical education.

Each school will get a plaque and $500 for providing a healthy learning environment.
