SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Some disappointing news for SU football fans. It appears head coach Doug Marrone is headed to the NFL.

Both Adam Schefter of ESPN and the NFL Network are reporting that Marrone will leave the Orange to become head coach of the Buffalo Bills. The Bills fired head coach Chan Gailey less than a week ago.

In addition to Marrone, team officials also met with Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, former Bears Head Coach Lovie Smith and Oregon Coach Chip Kelly. But it seems the Bills and Marrone reached a deal early Sunday morning.

Marrone has been head coach at SU for four seasons, and is credited with helping turn around a struggling program. Under Marrone, the Orange picked up two post-season wins, both at the New Era Pinstripe Bowl in New York City, with the most recent win coming just last weekend.

There has been no official comment on the move from the Bills, Marrone, or Syracuse University.
