Man accused of stealing funds from ambulance company

SENECA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A man in Seneca County has been accused of stealing money from a volunteer ambulance company he was in charge of.

Officials say Richard Heichel, 44, president of the South Seneca Community Volunteer Ambulance Corp, used credit cards linked to the business to buy goods and services for his personal use. He's also accused of withdrawing cash at an ATM from the Ambulance Corp's bank account for himself.

Heichel was charged with 15 counts of petit larceny for those crimes. He's also charged with grand larceny for allegedly stealing money from a fundraiser held by the ambulance company.
