SALINA, N.Y. -- A Onondaga County Sheriff's sergeant was injured in a car accident in the Town of Salina. It happened on Route 11 just before 11 p.m. Friday.

Officials say Sergeant Sharon McDonald was driving through the South Bay Road intersection when an SUV ran a red light, hitting the side of the patrol car.

McDonald was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with injuries to her leg and hand. The driver of the SUV, Eric Horvitz, 22, of Washington, was not injured. He was ticketed for passing a red light.

The crash is still being investigated.
