BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Broome County woman currently serving a 15 year to life sentence for murder will get a new trial.

Ashley Carnevale and her husband were accused of breaking into a Kirkwood home to steal prescription drugs back in 2009. During that robbery attempt, police said Anthony Carnevale shot and killed one person and wounded another. Ashley Carnevale was found guilty of two counts each of second-degree murder, assault, attempted assault and attempted robbery.

The conviction was appealed, and the state appellate division has now awarded Carnevale a new trial. They say she was deprived of meaningful representation.

No new trial date has been set.
