ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Governor Cuomo signed off on legislation paving the way for a Rome-based cyber security research hub, which would be used on both the state and federal levels.

The bills, co-authored by state Senator Griffo and Assemblyman Brindisi, allow the state's urban development corporation to begin public and private partnerships with the Air Force Research Laboratory, enhancing future Rome Lab cyber security. It will also provide facilities for partnering colleges within Rome Lab, including SUNY IT.

The new institute will also bring a number of high-tech jobs to the area.
