Longtime public servant dies
OSWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- A longtime public servant in Oswego County has died. Arthur Ospelt passed away earlier this week.
Ospelt served as a member of the Oswego County Legislature for 19 years. He was first elected in 1970, and left after a year as chairman to become highway superintendent in 1977. Ospelt served in that position through 1990, when he was appointed county administrator. He retired in 1996, but was reelected to the legislature in 2000, and served there until his death. Ospelt also served as Schroeppel town supervisor from 1970 through 1990.
He was 79 years old.
