NORTH COUNTRY, N.Y. -- Another top performing region was the North Country. The largest of the state's regions took home $90.2 million.

Projects include the creation of a $2.5 million Community Transformation Tourism Fund and $3 million to build housing in Jefferson County for military personnel.

State Senator Pattie Ritchie says the news comes at the perfect time.

"We're going to be putting people back to work, we're going to be growing the economy and for the areas that I represent, this is, I think, a great Christmas present to show that New York State believes in the North Country and Central New York," said Ritchie said.

The North Country includes Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties.
