SUSQUEHANNA CO UNTY, Pa. -- The Montrose Area School District is looking into reports that a student planned to bring a gun to school this Friday, the date of the Mayan apocalypse.

According to a message posted by the superintendent to the district's website, this past week, school officials received numerous reports about the alleged plans. The district got State Police involved and interviewed both the student in question and his parents, but found no evidence supporting the claims.

The superintendent says they are continuing to investigate to get to the root of the rumors.
