ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Salvation Army is hoping for a big push in the final week before Christmas to meet its Red Kettle goals.

So far, nearly $160,000 has been donated to Syracuse area kettles and the online kettles. The charity was hoping to raise $250,000 this year. It’s the Salvation Army's largest fundraiser.

Money is used to help the needy during the holidays and throughout the year.

The Salvation Army's Christmas Distribution Day in Syracuse is Friday.
