CANASTOTA, N.Y. -- If you're a boxing fan, there's a good chance you've been here to Canastota at least once or twice to check out Hall of Fame weekend which is held here every June. Inductees for the Class of 2013 will be announced at 1 p.m., and there's always plenty of anticipation into who will be inducted.

Boxing's Hall of Fame weekend will take place June 6-9 in 2013. The Hall, which opened in Canastota in 1989, attracts boxing fans to Canastota every summer for events including a golf tournament, parade, and of course the induction ceremony.

The annual event is Canastota's largest weekend of the year as local businesses, hotels and restaurants all see a pleasant increase in business.

The Hall of Fame opened here as a way to honor Canastota natives Carmen Basilio and his nephew Billy Backus. Basilio, a former welterweight and middleweight champion, died last month at the age of 85.

This year's induction ceremony is certain to have a lot of sentimental value to local boxing fans as they remember the local legend.
