Lockheed Martin drone launch successful

By: Web Staff

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Lockheed Martin is hopeful a new technology will have us covered if an enemy drone were to attack from an unsuspecting direction. The Medium Extended Air Defense System, or MEADS, deliberately launched a missile last week in the wrong direction, and was able to quickly turn it 360 degrees to successfully destroy a target.

Lockheed was responsible for the surveillance radar on that launch. The new radar will help military be prepared to fight overhead threats no matter where they originate.

A Lockheed spokesperson says the company is cautiously optimistic with the launch, and says the program has met every milestone and remains on budget.
