TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y. -- A small local business has won a big award.

Ithaca's Gimme Coffee was named Roaster of the Year by Roaster Magazine. The 12 year old company has about 70 employees and was selected from coffee roasters around the world. They were judged on sustainable practices, employee education and of course the quality of their coffee.

Employees say it is the dedication to high quality ingredients that makes their brews stand out.

"This is coffee from farms that we know very well. People that we work with that invest time and energy into better production standards. They have no defects in the coffee. It tastes very clean. It has very nice acidity and lots of flavor characteristics," said Colleen Anunu, Director of Coffee.

Gimme Coffee has locations in Ithaca, Trumansburg, Manhattan and Brooklyn.
