BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- A college in the Southern Tier continues its tradition of helping make the holiday season just a little bit brighter for kids in need.

Students and faculty of Broome Community College held their annual Giving of the Toys.

More than 50 offices, school organizations, clubs and athletic programs brought bags and boxes of toys to donate to the local Toys for Tots organization. From soccer balls to board games and books, hundreds of items were presented to Santa and stacked on the stage.

As one of the largest toy donation events for Toys for Tots, the boost in donations helps them meet more needs with Christmas just around the corner.

"It's what it’s all about. Because of BCC and the cooperation that we have with them, the community just comes together to help us out in a big way," said Steve Ward, Broome County Toys for Tots President.

Ward says toy donations have been very low this year, so they could use your help. Any new, unwrapped gifts can be dropped off before December 15th at any police station in the City of Binghamton or the Toys for Tots headquarters at 201 Main Street in Binghamton.
