SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Plenty of people were out enjoying the nice weather in Central New York. Syracuse's hot dog vendors had their carts set up ready to sell.
Tuesday was also an important day for the vendors. Every year, hot dog merchants in the city have to choose their location for the coming year through a lottery. They draw numbers out of a box and then choose their spot.
Vendors we spoke with say they're happy about their locations, but they are concerned about the permit price tag ranging from $500 to $1,500.
"I think the city needs to look into what we pay. One of the vendors brought up their price. In Syracuse, we pay a lot more than the other cities do, Rochester, Buffalo, Albany," said Karen Stenner of K’s Dogs.
Some vendors say if the city doesn't reduce the fee, they might have to look outside Syracuse for their stand location.
