SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A special service was held to remember those lost because of HIV and AIDS. In recognition of World AIDS Day tomorrow, AIDS Community Resources held a service at Le Moyne College Friday morning.
People who attended the service laid down blankets in remembrance of loved ones who have died. They also lit candles. The Syracuse Gay and Lesbian Chorus was there to sing during the service.
Organizers say they held this service to make people aware of the seriousness of HIV and AIDS.
"You want people to be connected to the history of this disease. You want people to take away a commitment to live life more fully as a tribute to the people who've died," said Michael Crinnin, Executive Director AIDS Community Resources.
During the service, a gong sounded every two minutes, signifying 10 more people worldwide have been infected with HIV.
