ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two rival high school hockey teams came together for a good cause. Tuesday night, Baldwinsville took on Liverpool in a game to raise money for a Baldwinsville family.
Audrey Gleason, 55, was killed and her daughter, Kelly Gleason, 16, critically injured in a car crash last month in Western New York.
The generally rough sport took on a softer side as the teams band together to help out Kelly, who is a junior in the Baldwinsville district.
Tuesday night, Gleason's uncle dropped the ceremonial puck at the game and expressed his gratefulness.
"It makes things a lot easier to have people like this. I had never knew. I had never been involved in a tragedy like this. I'm shocked and I'm so amazed the people are beautiful and the kids are great," said Dave Przybylak.
Just over $2,000 was raised for the Gleason family through raffles.
