CORNING, N.Y. -- People in the twin tiers can enjoy breakfast with Santa for a good cause. The Corning Salvation Army will be serving up hot cakes for breakfast Saturday.

It's co-sponsored by Corning Rotary, Community Bank and Bob Evans to raise money for Sandy victims in the New York City area.

This year, organizers wanted to focus their support on those cleaning up because it's all too familiar locally.

Capt. John Merchant of the Salvation Army Corning and Hornell said, "You can feel the devastation because the people in this area have been through it time and time again, and they know exactly what those folks are going through. And especially now at the holidays, it's more outpour of those spirits towards the people who were victimized in this situation."

The breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. until noon at the Episcopal Church in Corning. It's $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 6 through 12, and kids under 5 are free.
