LIVERPOOL, N.Y. -- Onondaga County sheriff's deputies are searching for clues in a vandalism spree at the field that serves as home to Liverpool Little League baseball.

The first question is just when the damage occurred. League officials were alerted on Sunday that someone had destroyed two dugouts. There was also damage to the electrical wiring and scoreboard at the field at Duerr Park.

Liverpool Little League President Mike Davis said, "We had just finished it. We spent eight weeks. I thought of all our volunteers, countless hours, taking time away from family to get this done. And then it's all in one night, it's gone. Why would someone do that? It's just so pointless and stupid and, you know, you're hurting kids."

Davis said there's about $1,500 worth of damage.
