SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Hundreds of struggling Central New York families will have a turkey on the dinner table this Thanksgiving, thanks to an anonymous donation.

Catholic Charities received a generous donation of 500 turkeys from a donor who wished not to be named. The turkeys will go to the charity's emergency services office, as well as their case management staff. The staff will then visit families who may not be able to afford a turkey dinner in this economy.

"We're always humbled by the generosity of donors, particularly anonymous donors, who just want to make sure that people's needs are met in the community. We see a growing number of folks coming to us every day that are just struggling to make ends meet," said Michael Melara, Executive Director of Catholic Charities.

Officials encourage anyone who may need assistance this holiday season to give them a call at (315) 424-1800.
