CICERO, N.Y. -- A Cicero woman was critically injured following a crash on Lakeshore Road.
Sheriff's deputies say Karen Hoyt, 42, lost control of her car on a curve around 2 p.m. Monday. Her vehicle hit a guardrail and went down a steep embankment. The car finally came to a rest on its roof, more than 200 feet from the road.
"The car ended up about three or four feet away from the water. If the trees weren't there that stopped her, she would have probably ended up in the water," said South Bay Fire Chief Kevin Purdy.
Hoyt is being treated at Upstate University Hospital. Deputies believe speed was a factor in the crash.
No charges are being filed at this time.
