District Attorney drops charges against Jon Bon Jovi’s daughter

ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Oneida County District Attorney's office has dropped charges against Jon Bon Jovi's daughter after she reportedly overdosed on heroin inside her Hamilton College dorm room.

Stephanie Bongiovi, 19, was hospitalized Wednesday morning after a friend called 911, reporting that she was unconscious and had overdosed.

Following the incident, Kirkland Police charged both Bongiovi and the man who reported the incident with drug related charges. However, the Oneida County DA is now dismissing the charges due to an amendment to the New York State Penal Law, which protects people who overdose and those who seek medical help for them from being prosecuted. The law was amended in September of last year.

Hamilton College did say the students' actions violate college policy.
