SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The city of Syracuse paid tribute to local veterans with a ceremony at the War Memorial. Community leaders were on hand to recognize all those who have served, including those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Veterans say the recognition means the world to them.

"I appreciate all this. Everybody's grabbing me and saying thank you. It makes you feel good," says World War Two Veteran Lyman Ashworth.

"It's gratifying to see the same people over and over every year. It really is. It makes you feel wanted and helpful," says Onondaga County Veterans Service Advisory Board member David Leslie.

Colonel Greg Semmel of the National Guard's 174th Attack Wing was the keynote speaker for the ceremony.
