UTICA, N.Y. -- The trial of Craig Ingersoll is coming to a close in Oneida County Court. The prosecution finished calling witnesses Friday morning.
Ingersoll is accused of raping and murdering Jennifer Bennett back in 2007. It wasn't until March of this year that Ingersoll was even a suspect. Investigators say a single hair from Bennett's back led them to Ingersoll when he was arrested for other crimes.
The prosecution's final witness walked the jury through Ingersoll's taped confession of choking Bennett, and leaving her behind the Deerfield Fire Department.
Ingersoll's lawyers say he did have sex with Bennett, but they deny he killed or raped her.
