ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Town of Geddes man is in the hospital after allegedly being shot in the chest by accident. It happened around 1 a.m. at a home on Grand Avenue in the Town of Geddes.

Sheriff's deputies say Thomas Devine, 20, and his friends were playing around with one of Devine's rifles when the rifle went off and shot him in the chest. His friends say they called 911 and provided first aid while they waited for emergency personnel.

Devine is at Upstate University Hospital in critical condition.

Sheriff's deputies tell us they are investigating the incident.
